About

ANZSMS22 is the 22nd biennial conference of the Australian & New Zealand Society for Mass Spectrometry. Among the oldest mass spectrometry societies in the world, ANZSMS was incorporated in Sydney in 1970 and held its first conference there in 1971.

ANZSMS22 will return home to Sydney in early 2009 from January 27 - 30 following Australia Day. For the first time the conference will be held in the city centre.

Sydney is a vibrant, youthful city located on one of the world's most spectacular natural harbours. Sydney is consistently rated the best city in the world* with a pleasant year round climate plus dining, entertainment, leisure activities and attractions unmatched in the world. Visitors can find further information about the city here.

ANZSMS22 will present the latest instrument developments and research covering all areas of application of mass spectrometry. The conference will coincide with, and celebrate, the 60 year anniversary of the first mass spectrometry experiments conducted in Australia in the late 1940s. Consistent with its venue, the conference will adopt a musical theme.

*Sydney was rated the World's Best City by Travel + Leisure magazine for 8 out of 10 years through 2005, the Best City in the Conde Nast Traveller Readers' Travel Awards in 2007 (for the 12th time), and the number one city in the world in the annual Anholt City Brands Index in 2008.
