Joel Mackay is awarded the Gottschalk medal

Joel Mackay has just been awarded the Gottschalk medal by the Australian Academy of Science. The medal is awarded to recognise outstanding research in the medical sciences by scientists under 40 years at the closing date. The awardee may not be a Fellow of the Academy. The award is made annually and is restricted to candidates who are normally resident in Australia and for research conducted mainly in Australia. In the past, this medal has been awarded to such luminaries as Nic Nicola, Michael Parker, Doug Hilton, John Shine, David Vaux and Merlin Crossley.
