Kate Marsh wins award

Kate Marsh

Kate Marsh, a PhD student with Prof. Jennie Brand-Miller, was recently awarded the Dietitians Association of Australia Young Achiever Award, an award created in memory of dietician Dr Joan Woodhill.

The DAA Young Achiever Award is awarded to a member of DAA who is less than 10 years from graduation and who demonstrates excellence of practice or leadership in nutrition and dietetics, achievement in promoting optimal health and nutritional status of the population, proven communication skills and committment beyond usual practice.

Kate chairs two Special Interest Groups within DAA, is a member of the Diabetes Practice Guidelines Committee and serves on the DAA-NSW Executive. She also co-ordinates the Diabetes Australia NSW Young Adults Group (YPG), is the NSW representative on the Young People With Diabetes Program Steering Committee and is a member of the ADEA Magazine Advisory Group and the Diabetes Management Journal Editorial Board. While running her successful private practice, Kate has completed additional studies in Diabetes Education and Management and began her PhD in 2002 to study the dietary management of women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). She is co-author, along with Jennie, of The New Glucose Revolution: Managing PCOS.
