I have a few interests and projects - they vary constantly as my attention
drifts from one thing to another... Here are some of the ones I can think
of at the moment.
-
I have been a big fan of Billy Bragg
for many years.
He tours Australia every so often as he has quite a following here. I have
been fortunate enough to be able (to afford) to go to his concerts and try not to miss any of his tours. He always gives a good live show!
-
I have also, at some time or another, been interested in a kids BBC
television show which was on many,
many years ago: Pressgang.
Re-runs are occasionally shown on the Pay-TV station Nickelodeon, however they
skip all of the 'controversial' episodes for some reason.
It's good to see the actors from this show move on to bigger and better things:
Dexter Fletcher, who played "Spike" was in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking
Barrels; Julia Swahala, "Lynda Day", has been in many things, including
Absolutely Fabulous, and the BBC production of Pride and Prejudice; Gabrielle
Anwar has made it big in Hollywood, with The Scent of a Woman, The Concierge
and other movies, and Claire Forlani (who was in one or two episodes as the
glamorous girlfriend of Colin) was in Mallrats, Meet Joe Black,
Mystery Men and lots of others.
-
I'm trying to learn how to sew, too. I've become interested in making patchwork quilts - mainly influenced by my own mother (who is also interested and learning) and my mother-in-law, Avril, who is the most amazing, prolific crafter I have ever met!
-
Like any good geek I like reading, and I like reading sci-fi and fantasy. I also enjoy Austen, travel books and other fiction. I try to get some history into me, too but have trouble staying awake sometimes!
-
On the more active side of things, I have previously participated in a sport called
Dragon Boat Racing. My team Sydney Phoenix is run by my brother and sister-in-law and one day I hope that I'll get back into it. It's a bit hard finding the time with two young boys sometimes.
